Scores, soundtracks and game music all distribute normally. There's just a naming convention stores expect, and following it is what gets your release grouped and surfaced correctly.
Title format
Put the context in parentheses after the album title:
- Nightfall (Original Game Soundtrack)
- The Long Road (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack)
- Harbour (Original Series Soundtrack)
Use (Original Score) instead if it's purely instrumental composition with no songs.
Who goes in the artist field
One composer? They're the primary artist, credited by name, not the game or film title.
Multiple composers? Use Various Artists as the release artist, and credit each composer as the primary artist on their own tracks.
Songs by other artists on the soundtrack? Each track carries its own performing artist, with the release under Various Artists.
Fill in the composer field as well as the artist field. It's how royalties get attributed properly, and it's the field most often left blank.
Rights
You need the right to distribute the recordings. Straightforward if you scored it yourself, and worth confirming in writing if the work was commissioned, work-for-hire contracts sometimes leave distribution rights with the studio rather than the composer.
