Explicit Content Explained
Getting started with MOOSYC

Explicit content is fully welcome on MOOSYC. There's nothing to justify and no extra step. It just needs tagging correctly.

What triggers the flag

It's about the lyrics, specifically:

  • Profanity and swearing
  • Sexual content or description
  • Violence
  • References to drug use

Aggressive production, a dark theme, a distorted mix or a horror-film cover doesn't make a track explicit. Words do.

It's per track, not per release

Tag each track individually. On a ten-track album with one song that swears, exactly one track is marked explicit, the rest stay clean, and stores display them accordingly.

The three options

  • Explicit: the lyrics contain any of the above
  • Clean: this is a censored or edited version of an explicit track
  • Not explicit: nothing to flag, which is what most tracks are

"Clean" specifically means an edited version exists. Don't use it for a song that simply has no swearing in it.

If you get it wrong

We usually catch it at review and ask you to change the tag. If something slips through and a store flags it later, tell us and we'll correct the delivery.

It's a labelling fix, not a black mark. Nothing happens to your account.
