Meta Ads lets you promote a release on Instagram and Facebook without leaving MOOSYC. You connect your own Meta account once. After that you start a campaign for a release in a few steps, MOOSYC watches it for you, and the results show up next to your streaming numbers.
Meta Ads is being switched on for accounts in stages. If you don't see Meta Ads on your Home yet, it isn't on for your account yet.
The short version
- The ads run in your own Meta ad account, as your own Page and Instagram profile
- You pay Meta directly for what a campaign spends. MOOSYC never sees your card and takes no cut of your ad budget
- Every campaign has a daily amount and an end date, so it can never cost more than you set
- You can disconnect at any time
What you need on Meta's side
Meta asks for four things before any ad can run. All of them are free, and together they take about ten minutes.
- A Facebook Page for your artist name. Every ad comes from a Page, also on Instagram
- An Instagram professional account (Creator is fine). Your profile, posts and followers stay as they are
- Instagram linked to your Page, so an ad can run as your Instagram profile
- A way to pay Meta: a card or PayPal added under Billing and payments in Ads Manager
If you have never run an ad before, the Never run a Meta ad before? link on the Meta Ads page walks you through each of these with a link to the right place.
Connecting your Meta account
- Open Meta Ads from your Home
- Choose Connect Meta
- Meta opens its own window and asks which ad account, Page and Instagram account MOOSYC may use. Tick the ones that belong to your music
- You come back to MOOSYC, connected
That's the only time you deal with Meta's settings. Measurement is set up for you: MOOSYC wires your release pages to a dataset in your own Meta account, so Meta can tell which ad brought a listener.
Promoting a release
- On the Meta Ads page, choose the release you want to promote
- Pick what people will see: your own video or picture, or a video MOOSYC makes from your song and your visuals in the upright format Reels and Stories use
- Choose where it runs, a daily amount and an end date
- Start it
The ad sends people to your MOOSYC smart link for that release, where they pick their streaming service. If the release isn't out yet, the campaign can wait and start by itself on release day.
What Autopilot does
Once a campaign runs, Autopilot looks at it every day.
- It pauses an ad that spends without bringing listeners, and tells you why
- It never raises a budget and never starts anything you didn't ask for. Pausing is the most it does on its own
- You can pause, resume, or change a campaign's budget and end date yourself whenever you like
Reading your results
The Meta Ads page shows what each campaign spent and what it brought: how many people saw the ad, how many tapped through to your smart link, and how many went on to a streaming service. Amounts are shown in your ad account's own currency, exactly as Meta bills them.
What MOOSYC can see, and what it does with it
When you connect, MOOSYC gets access to the ad account, Page, Instagram account and dataset you ticked, and to nothing else. We use that access for one purpose: running and reporting the ads you asked for.
- We read your campaigns and their results to show them to you
- We create, pause and change campaigns in your ad account when you ask, and Autopilot pauses ads as described above
- We send events from your MOOSYC release pages (a page view, a tap to a streaming service, a pre-save) to your own Meta dataset, so your campaigns can be measured
- We don't sell this data, share it with other artists, or use it for anything else
- Nobody else on MOOSYC can see your ad account or its results
Disconnecting
On the Meta Ads page, open the settings and choose Disconnect Meta. MOOSYC then stops reading the account, deletes what it read from it (your ad accounts, ads and their results as stored with us) and gives up its access on Meta's side. Ads that are already running keep running in your Meta ad account, where you can manage them in Ads Manager, and your smart links keep working.
You can also remove MOOSYC on Meta's side, under Business integrations in your Facebook settings. MOOSYC then loses its access straight away. Disconnect in MOOSYC as well, so that what we stored is deleted too.
